Food on Film

by ehflegg

Lately I’ve been really enjoying playing around shooting food. Summer is prime season for it with all the colourful fruit and and bright accoutrements, everything from dishes and cutlery to plants and flowers to add in (the sweet peas in my garden and some of my favourite props).

I’m finding that keeping things pretty simple and letting one or two items really shine has been producing some of the nicest images.

I’m also noticing that I really like food photography with people in it. Having someone chopping or tearing ingredients, eating in the background or just a hand around a glass really adds life to the photo. What really draws me into food photos is the human connection, the feeling that someone has carefully prepared and shared something delicious and it’s being received with equal care and love.

I adore making food for the people in my life, it’s one of my favourite things. I want all my food photos to convey that warm and love and connection.
