I’ve been casually crossing paths with Room Magazine publisher Meghan Bell for awhile now, so it was very nice to finally officially meet her and spend some timing making pictures together in the beautiful Room offices (I know it’s cliche but I’m such a sucker for exposed brick. Also rooftop patios).
It’s not uncommon for clients to try to “warn” me about how difficult they will be to photograph, how they have no idea what to do or wear or how to hold themselves. Meghan did so numerous times before our shoot, and I just have to say that she (along with basically everyone I’ve ever shot) was a delight, was expressive and creative, and was in no way at all a chore to photograph. I know this is sometimes easier said than done, but if you’ve got a session coming up (with me or with anyone) and you’re worried about it, please know that we don’t buy the warnings for a second, and we’re just stoked to get to know you and to capture what makes you unique. Therein lies the joy in being a photographer.
